Amankalu Autonomous Community/Villages
Igbere evolved into autonomous communities through the ages. The starting point being Eke Igbere where Ebiri settled originally. According to oral tradition and other documented evidence, the landmarks of Igbere represent various activities. For instance Ogbonta at Ozara, Amankalu Igbere is where the other 8 stones of Igbere is found. Amankalu has one of the surviving forest named Agwu-ofia. HRH Eze Charles Onwukwe Iheke; Nkalu Ukwu 1 of Amankalu with his Palace at Umuobasi is the ruler.
The community has a central obi. Each ogo has an Obi and in some cases 2 obi e.g. senior obi or obi ukwu and junior obi or obi-nta
As typical each village has isi-ogo. Amankalu has 8 ogo including Isi-egbu, Etiti-ogo, Ndi-okoro, Ihungwu, Ndiokpa, Ndi-ero, Umu-obasi and Ndi-eke each of these ogo is represented by an Eze-Ogo at the Eze's council
